Board of Directors - Personal Profiles
Filipe Lowndes Marques is a partner at law firm Morais Leitão, Galvão Teles Soares da Silva & Associados, and has been a director of the BPCC since 2002, and elected Chairman of the Board of Directors in 2017. His practice centres on banking and finance, and he has worked on many matters concerning British investment in Portugal and Portuguese investments in Britain. He was educated in England and Portugal and is a member of the Portuguese Bar and a Solicitor of the Supreme Courts of England and Wales.
Paulo Silva is a partner at real estate consultants firm Aguirre Newman Portugal and a board member of Aguirre Newman Group. His practice centres on commercial real estate in Iberia. He's graduate in Economics and is the President of ACAI Associação de Empresas de Consultoria e Avaliação Imobiliária.
Carmen Batista Rosa was born in Toronto, Canada in 1979 and is a Managing Associate at the law firm “A.M. Pereira, Sáragga Leal, Oliveira Martins, Júdice e Associados Sociedade de Advogados, SP, RL” (PLMJ), working in the PLMJ Faro Office since 2002. Carmen graduated from the faculty of law “Universidade de Lisboa” in 2002 and is a member of the Portuguese Bar Association since 2004; has an LLM in International Trade and Business Law from faculty of law “Universidade Católica Portuguesa” (2007) and has a University Extension Course in Arbitration from the faculty of law “Universidade Nova de Lisboa” (2011). Her main practice areas are litigation and arbitration, as well as contracts and corporate law.
Charlie Cutler is the owner of Westfield Technologies Lda, a Portuguese import/export business working in several different areas, including sports clothing (Carvalho Custom), corks and cork products (CorkLink) and event management (PortoEvents) as well as consulting for British firms looking to invest in Portugal (PortugalWorks). He was born and educated in Britain, but has lived in northern Portugal since 1998.
Diogo Lacerda has been the head of the Trade Finance department since the beginning of 2013, part of the International Division of Millennium bcp. He joined the bank in 2000 where he has worked in several areas: Manager of a department in Millennium Investment Banking; branch manager of one of the Corporate Network teams; head of the Fixed Income Department and head of Financial Institutions Group. Diogo has a degree in management from Universidade Católica Portuguesa and has attended several executive seminars both in Universidade Católica Portuguesa as well as INSEAD.
Pedro Vicente is graduated in Law, by the Law School of Coimbra University and has a master in Management and Public Policies, by the Lisbon University. Pedro has started his career as a lawyer, developing an ecletic professional activity as general secretary, general manager and board member of several companies in the media sector - Castello Lopes Multimédia (Media Capital Group), as a board member, comunications – and as head of legal, marketing and asset management in the real estate sector – EPUL - Empresa Pública de Urbanização de Lisboa. Pedro is currently (and since 2014) the General Manager for Portugal of Level Constellation, a company owned by a Chinese fund from Shanghai, investing in the real estate and tourism sector in Portugal and being today one of the Lisbon´s promotors main players. He is also the author of two technical books related with corporate governance in state owned companies.
Rui Almeida is CEO, President of the Executive Committee and Board Member of Moneris SGPS, S.A. since 2007. He is also an alternate member of the Audit Committee of EDP Ventures SCR and Teixeira Duarte S.A.. Rui was formerly an Audit Manager with EY, where he developed a career for over 11 years, working in different countries such as Portugal, UK (where he lived for 3 years), Angola and Mozambique. He is also one of the founders of the M&A group of MSI Global Alliance (MSI), one of the world’s leading international associations of independent legal and accounting firms With over 250 carefully selected member firms in more than 100 countries worldwide. Rui holds a Masters in Management (ISEG -Universidade de Lisboa) and several Post Graduations, namely on the fields of Mergers & Acquisitions (PBS-Universidade do Porto), Human Behaviour in Organisations (AESE) and Business Management (BPP University). Rui is a specialist in Corporate Governance, Internal Controls, Risk Management, Auditing and Corporate Finance and frequently writes articles for newspapers, radio programmes and is regularly involved on the production of thought leadership content on various management related themes.
Sanath Gunawardena Sanath is an Entrepreneur, a Project Manager, a Business Leader and an IT professional. Sanath has a Master Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Leicester, a Bachelors degree (Bsc. Hons) in Information Systems from University of East London and has certified project management qualifications. In a career expanding over 20 years, Sanath has worked in challenging commercial and technical environments, from start-ups to conglomerates in different countries, locations and in multicultural environments. Sanath is currently the COO of Datafields Ltd (www.datafields.net), a company Sanath co-founded more than 10 years ago after moving to Porto, from the UK.
Teresa Patrício was born in Lisbon in 1970. After graduating from Lisbon Law School, she completed her articles and during her traineeship, was the advisor on property law for an international group of food distribution. She then went on to work as a Tax Consultant in a multinational corporation in Lisbon, was a senior lawyer at an Anglo-Portuguese Law Firm and then left to practice as a sole practitioner. Teresa then set up her own firm, TP&A, in November 2005. Teresa has attended post graduate degrees on Tax Law from IESF and on the Stock Exchange Market at Lisbon Law School. She concluded her QLTT degree at the College of Law in London and is a dually qualified Portuguese advogada and English solicitor. Teresa specializes in Tax Law, Company and Commercial Law, Property Law and Employment Law and is fluent in Portuguese, English and Spanish. She is a member of the Portuguese Law Society as well as the Law Society of England and Wales.
Tiago Lemos was born in 1974, Tiago graduated from Lisbon University in 1997, obtained a post graduate degree in Securities Law in 2001 from the same university and participated in the 3rd Edition of the Advanced Executive Training Programme in Public Private Partnerships at the Portuguese Catholic University (Faculty of Economic and Business Sciences). He is a member of the Portuguese bar association since 1999 and a member of the International Bar Association since 2007. Tiago has practised at Abreu & Marques, Vinhas e Associados for 9 years in the finance and banking department and also worked in London at Slaughter and May between February and September in 2002. He specialises in commercial, finance and banking law and has participated in several Portuguese and cross-boarder commercial and financial transactions advising foreign and domestic financial institutions. Tiago is especially known for his experience in the area of derivatives and structured finance. Tiago is one of the founding partners of PLEN, and is the head of the banking and finance area of the firm and co-head of the commercial law area.
Tim Solomon is Chairman of Ogilvy & Mather Portugal. He was born in London, and after university in France began his career at Ogilvy & Mather London, subsequently working also in Frankfurt, Dusseldorf, Turin and Milan. In 1995, he was named CEO of Ogilvy & Mather Japan, and relocated to Tokyo, with the responsibility to establish and build the Ogilvy & Mather presence in Japan. In early 2002, he returned to Europe with various responsibilities before relocating to Lisbon to manage Ogilvy in Portugal.
