The law firm was established in 1994. Since its beginning, it has developed activities both for Portuguese and foreign clients, namely in the commercial field.
At present the law firm is formed of seven lawyers, who deal with all matters pertaining to corporations, from their birth to their liquidadion, - including of course M&A – with special emphasis on the Pharma and Health fields, both in the commercial field as well as on the regulatory matters. Lopes & Associados is the Portuguese member of Conférence Bleue, a network of lawyers who specialise in these areas. IP being closely connected to Pharma matters, the law firm has also been paying great attention to this area of law. In 2009 the law firm became a member of Health Cluster Portugal.
IT law also became the object of attention of the office more recently, a senior a junior lawyer devoting a great part of their time to these matters.
Lopes Dias & Associados also deals with matters where companies usually need legal assistance, namely tax, contract, distribution, labour, property, as well as litigation in all these fields.The office serves all types of clients, from big corporations to small and medium - sized businesses, including medical devices and distributors ones.
In 2011 the senior lawyer Maria L. Lopes Dias was awarded the title of 2011 Life Sciences Lawyer of the Year in Portugal, by the Corporation INTL Magazine.
The office has correspondents in Europe, United States of America, South America, Asia and the former Portuguese colonies.
Two of the lawyers belong to International Law Associations, i.e. AIJA and IBA.
The office is member of several Chambers of Commerce in Portugal.
