Every now and then, at rare moments, comes a special day. A combination of stunning scenery, sunny warm weather, delicious food and, above all, special people and great company to bring it all to l ife .
My British-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce group had a grand day out the 4th of June, organised by the lovely Inês, to Jonathan's stunning Quinta de Outeiro near Resende, overlooking the Douro.
It was the kind of day which brought together all the reasons for living in Portugal, with the sunshine reflecting the warmth in our hearts and souls.
Big day out continued......After lunch, we adjourned to the Museum of the Douro, my first but by no means last, visit ..... A museum filled with history, love and warmth, coupled with great care and commitment.
We were there to witness the opening of a stunning exhibition of work by Anabela, known as Bela 7, a member of our Chamber and a wonderful, inspiring artist.
The work was based on the 'soul' of the Douro, beautifully crafted pieces reflecting many aspects of the Douro...the vines, the curving terraces, the colour of the port and how this is all reflected in ourselves.
Anabela described her pieces with her heart and soul...lyrically, poetically, emotionally......I have rarely seen such a combination of concept and outcome with such exquisite, creative results.
Thank you, Bela...we wish you every success!
