Portugal, China and the United Kingdom share a time-honoured history, both political and economic. However, it is the future of this trilateral alliance that is the most exciting – hence the inspiration behind the Chamber´s latest event. In partnership with the CCILC, the Chamber held a ´diplomatic lunch´, bringing together people from all three countries to celebrate past, present and most importantly future collaboration between Portugal, the UK and China.
Under the grand backdrop of the Corinthia Hotel, the Chamber welcomed distinguished guests, Ambassadors Cai Run and Kirsty Hayes; representatives from our kind sponsors, Haitong Bank, EY, BP and Morais Leitão, Galvão Teles, Soares da Silva & Associados, as well as a cross-section representing all sectors of our membership; all eager to be a part of this unique event. As promised by the title, diplomacy and lunch featured side by side with light conversation and business cards exchanged over a delightful meal before the Guest Speakers at the forefront of this strategic partnership took to the stage to mainly put into figures the true value of triangular trade.
Equally as enjoyable as it was informative, the event was deemed to have been a success, surpassing expectations and, as Ambassador Cai Run said, the work carried out by Chambers of Commerce is important for forging these links for future development. Through events such as this, we break down existing boundaries and create opportunities for transnational networking – strengthening political and economic trust for a bright and united future.
